I go to the Lynn center at Jackson memorial hospital which has facilities inside to accommodate individuals with disabilities. I went today to my appt and when leaving to go back to my car I noticed a car parked in front of the only access point into the parking lot without having to roll to the other side. I went closer to attempt to try and my wheelchair just couldn't fit. I immediately called the number listed on the car and spoke to a woman named Viviana. She was dismissive, condescending and asked for the pictures. I sent her a text message with them and a brief comment stating how unacceptable this is and how he's been parked there well over 15 min and NO RESPONSE. I wait 20 min before I text again and ask if she's received my messages only to get a text back saying "Good morning yes photos have been received. Driver was in fact picking up emergency Surgical supplies for a patient that is currently an emergency surgery at Jackson North." Utterly in shock and even more disgusted than before. What if I too had an emergency and that's why I was leaving? What if someone else in a wheelchair had an emergency and needed to access the hospital? AND what about the people who need this crosswalk and just their f'in right to use the access point without needing it to be an emergency? We have limited accessibility AS IT IS and because someone else "has an emergency" we need to understand? It's also been over 15 min so I hope this wasn't a life or death emergency. Her response was exactly what's wrong with this world for people with a disability. An apology would've been just fine. However, after reading their other reviews, it seems as though this company has ZERO respect for individuals with disabilities and disability parking.
